# Are there actually any AI-based takeoff software worth exploring?

The useful AI features right now are narrower than "auto-takeoff." Commenters liked keyword search ("find every sheet that mentions this tag"), image search that finds every instance of a symbol and turns it into counts, and rough quantities for budgets. An electrical estimator said none of the tools handle circuiting, and a Division 9 estimator found auto-takeoff too sloppy. Note that several replies in the thread come from vendors promoting their own products.

How to evaluate: pick the one scope where you spend the most clicking time (counts, flooring areas, wall lengths) and test only that. Tools in our directory with AI takeoff features: [Togal.AI](/tools/togal-ai), [Beam AI](/tools/beam-ai), [Kreo](/tools/kreo), [STACK](/tools/stack). Traditional takeoff tools such as [PlanSwift](/tools/planswift) and [Bluebeam](/tools/bluebeam) remain the baseline to compare against. Start with free trials, and log time saved against time spent correcting.
