Blueprints AI launches V2 to draft permit sets from a sketch, PDF or description
Announced · Published · By Contractor AI Shop
Santa Monica startup Blueprints AI launched V2 at TechCrunch Disrupt (Oct. 13 to 15). It drafts architectural, structural, MEP and interior sheets from a sketch, PDF or written description and checks changes against building codes. A licensed professional still reviews and seals the set.
Key facts
- V2 creates sheets for architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and interior design at once, and one design change updates the whole project. TechCrunch
- The first-generation product costs $3,200 to $8,500 a month, per TechCrunch; V2 pricing was not given. TechCrunch
- The company says it trained its models on eight years of approved drawing sets from founder Al Dram's design-build firm. Construction Metrics
- Blueprints AI was in TechCrunch's Startup Battlefield 200 and showed V2 at Disrupt. Technology.org
Our take: what it means for contractors
Useful for design-build GCs and small A/E shops, not for takeoff. Pricing is enterprise-level. Before buying, bring a set you've already gotten permitted to a demo and mark up the AI sheets line by line against it.
What we don't know yet
- V2 pricing
- Plan-check correction rates on AI-drafted sets
- Named customers with measured drafting-hour savings
- Who carries liability when a sealed AI-drafted set fails review
